SIP numbers and phone systems
Connect your existing number to bhomy via SIP, through your provider or your phone system, for inbound and outbound calls.
With a SIP connection, your number stays with your provider, and calls reach your agent directly. Over the same connection, your agent can also make outbound calls if you want, with your number as the sender. SIP numbers are available on every plan.
How the connection works
| Direction | What happens | What you enter |
|---|---|---|
| Inbound | Your provider or phone system sends calls to bhomy's Destination address | the destination address from the dashboard, at your provider |
| Outbound, optional | bhomy sends calls to your provider's Termination address and logs in with your credentials | your provider's termination address, username and password, in the dashboard |
Setting it up in bhomy
- Open Phone Number › Add number › Connect SIP number.
- Enter the number in international format, exactly as your provider sends it, such as
+49401234567. - Copy the Destination address (origination). Some providers need the full SIP URI shown below it.
- Optional: turn on Secure incoming calls. bhomy generates a username and password that your provider sends with every call. Copy both right away, as the password is only shown once.
- Optional, for outbound calls: enter your provider's Termination address (hostname only), Username and Password.
- Click Connect number and assign an agent to the number.
Then enter the destination address at your provider. As soon as the first call arrives, the status changes from Waiting for first call to Active.
Outbound: confirming the number
Before your agent calls with the number, you confirm that it belongs to you. Open the number and click Confirm for outbound calls. bhomy calls the number and reads out a six-digit code, which you then enter. German numbers can be confirmed.
