Getting started with bhomy
From a new account to your first real call. Create an agent, pick a template, test in the browser and connect a number.
bhomy is your AI phone assistant. It answers calls around the clock, answers questions from your knowledge, books appointments and connects callers to a person when needed. This page takes you from a new account to your first real call.
The checklist in the dashboard
After you sign in, the home page shows the Getting started card. It keeps track of what is already done and disappears once everything is in place. You can close it earlier with Dismiss.
| Step | What you do |
|---|---|
| Confirm your email | Click the link in the confirmation email. Only then are all features unlocked. Resend sends the email again. |
| Create your first agent | Choose a name, language and voice. |
| Connect a phone number | Buy a number or connect your own, and assign it to the agent. |
| Make your first call | Call the number and hear how your agent sounds. |
1. Create an agent
- Open Agent in the menu on the left and click Create Agent.
- Choose a name: for example "Front desk Dr. Sommer". The name helps you tell several agents apart.
- Select language: the language your agent speaks. With Multi-Language it detects the caller's language automatically.
- Select voice: listen to the suggestions and pick a voice that suits your business. You can change it at any time later.
How many agents you can create depends on your plan: 1 on the Starter plan, unlimited on the Pro and Individual plans.
2. Pick a template
A new agent starts with a short default greeting and a general prompt. A template gets you there faster:
- Open the agent and stay on the Personality tab.
- In the Prompt section, click Choose prompt.
- Pick a type: Callback Agent, Reception Agent, Calendar Agent or Service Agent.
- Pick your industry, for example healthcare, trades or real estate. There are 15 industries. Use without industry gives you a general version, Empty Agent an empty prompt.
- Confirm with Overwrite prompt and save.
The templates contain placeholders in square brackets, for example for your company name, address or opening hours. Fill them in before you go live. The dashboard lists open placeholders right below the prompt. You can still activate the agent: on those points it then says openly that it does not have the information instead of making something up. The templates also already include the notice that an AI system is speaking.
How to tailor the prompt to your business afterwards is explained in Writing a good prompt.
3. Test in the browser
Before real callers get through, you talk to your agent yourself.
- Click Test Agent at the top right.
- Allow access to your microphone.
- Click Start call and speak like a caller would.
- End the conversation with Hang up.
The test saves your current settings first and runs over WebRTC directly in the browser. The conversation then appears in the Call History with the direction Audio Test, including a transcript.
4. Connect a phone number
For callers to reach your agent, it needs a number. Under Phone Number › Add number you have three options:
| Option | What it is for | Direction |
|---|---|---|
| Buy number | A new local number from us, ready to use right away | inbound |
| Connect SIP number | Your existing number through your own provider | inbound and outbound |
| Import number | Your number as the caller ID for outbound calls | outbound |
Then you assign the number to your agent. All options in detail: Connect a phone number.
5. Make your first real call
Call the number from your mobile phone. Pay attention to three things:
- Does the greeting sound natural, and does it name your business?
- Does the agent ask the right follow-up questions, and does it keep its answers short?
- Does the transcript in the Call History match what you said?
If something is off, adjust the greeting or prompt and call again. An overview of typical causes is in Troubleshooting.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to know how to code?
No. You set up your agent, number, calendar and notifications entirely in the dashboard. You only need programming skills for your own interfaces, such as the Outbound API.
Can I create several agents for different tasks?
Yes, without a limit on the Pro and Individual plans, for example one for the front desk and one for appointment confirmations. Each number is assigned to exactly one agent.
Can someone help me with the setup?
Yes. Write to us at support@bhomy.ai. If you like, you can give our team time-limited support access under Account. We offer a guided setup as a setup package, see Subscription and billing.
