Check the Cal.com connection

The calendar won't connect, the API key is rejected or the event type ID doesn't match. How to check the connection step by step.

For appointments, bhomy connects to your Cal.com account. The calendar tool needs two details from Cal.com for this: an API Key and the Event Type ID of the appointment your agent should book. You connect Google Calendar and Outlook in Cal.com, not in bhomy.

The API key is rejected

Possible causeSolution
The key wasn't copied completelyCopy the whole key. It starts with cal_live_. Remove spaces at the beginning or end
The key has expired or been deletedIn Cal.com, create a new key under Settings › Developer › API Keys and enter it
The key belongs to a different Cal.com accountThe key must belong to the account that owns the event type

The event type ID doesn't match

Possible causeSolution
You entered the name or link instead of the IDThe ID is a number. You'll find it in the browser's address bar when you open the event type in Cal.com
The event type is hidden or deletedCheck in Cal.com whether it exists and is active
The event type belongs to a teamUse a key with access to the team, or a personal event type

Check the connection step by step

  1. Open the event type in Cal.com and check the ID in the address bar.
  2. Open the event type's public booking page. It must show free slots.
  3. Under Availability, check the time zone of the availability. bhomy uses exactly this time zone.
  4. In the agent, enter the key and ID under Tools › Calendar and click Connect.
  5. In the audio test, ask for a free appointment on a day for which your booking page shows slots.

Google Calendar or Outlook doesn't show busy times

Possible causeSolution
The calendar isn't connected in Cal.comConnect it in Cal.com in your account's calendar settings
The calendar is connected but not selected for conflictsIn Cal.com, choose which calendars are checked for overlaps

Several appointment types

A calendar tool points to exactly one event type. For different appointment types, such as an initial consultation and a follow-up, create an event type with several durations in Cal.com, or add several calendar tools and give each one a Name, such as "Consultation". Say in the prompt which appointment fits when.
