Call forwarding isn't working
Codes are rejected, calls end up on voicemail, forwarding when busy doesn't work or the caller's number is missing.
You set up call forwarding with your phone provider, not in bhomy. bhomy only sees the forwarded call. That's why the cause usually lies in the settings of your line. The call forwarding generator creates the right codes.
Check the current forwarding status
On most mobile phones, these codes show where calls are currently forwarded:
| Code | Checks |
|---|---|
*#21# | Forward all calls |
*#61# | Forward when not answered |
*#62# | Forward when unreachable |
*#67# | Forward when busy |
Dial the code like a number and press the call button. The phone shows the destination or "not active". These are standard GSM codes; some providers use their own codes or an app instead.
The code is rejected
| Possible cause | Solution |
|---|---|
| The number in the code has the wrong format | Use the code from the generator. German numbers appear in it with the leading 0 and without spaces, for example **61*04012345678# |
| Your plan doesn't allow forwarding | Some prepaid and budget plans block forwarding. Ask your provider or set it up in their app |
| Your phone doesn't send control codes | On some devices, forwarding is in the Phone › Settings › Call forwarding menu. Enter your bhomy number there |
Calls end up on voicemail
| Possible cause | Solution |
|---|---|
| Voicemail uses the same forwarding | With most providers, voicemail is itself a forwarding rule. Set up forwarding to bhomy again; it replaces voicemail |
| Voicemail answers before the forwarding | Choose a shorter wait time, such as 15 seconds, or switch off voicemail with your provider |
| The forwarding only applies to a different case | Use the check codes above to see which forwarding is active |
Forwarding when busy doesn't work
| Possible cause | Solution |
|---|---|
| Call waiting is switched on | With call waiting active, your line is never busy; the second caller hears a waiting tone. Switch off call waiting or use forwarding when not answered |
| A phone system handles busy itself | Set up forwarding in the phone system, see SIP phone systems |
Callers only hear ringing or get disconnected
| Possible cause | Solution |
|---|---|
| No agent is assigned to the bhomy number | Assign an agent under Phone Number |
| Your account is paused | Check the notice at the top of the dashboard, see Subscription and billing |
| The forwarding points to a cancelled or wrong number | Compare the destination from the check with the number under Phone Number |
The caller's number is missing in the call history
| Possible cause | Solution |
|---|---|
| Your provider or phone system sends its own number when forwarding | Set your provider or phone system to pass on the original caller's number |
| The caller withholds their number | Intended. The agent then asks for a callback number if it needs one |
Transfer to a person ends up with the agent again
If your agent transfers to a number that is itself forwarded to bhomy, the caller ends up with the agent again. Use a direct number without forwarding as the call transfer destination, such as a mobile or a direct extension.
