Porting Your Existing Number

Port an existing business number to BHOMY: legal requirements, lead time, fallback safety, and a step-by-step checklist.

Already have a business phone number your customers know? You can port (transfer) it to BHOMY so your AI agent answers calls on your existing number.

What is Number Porting?

Number porting is the process of transferring a phone number from one carrier to another. When you port your number to BHOMY, callers dial the same number they always have — but now your AI agent answers.

Requirements

To port a number, you'll need:

  • Letter of Authorization (LOA) — A signed document authorizing the transfer.
  • Current carrier information — Your current provider's name and account number.
  • Recent invoice — A copy of your latest phone bill.
  • The number must be active — Don't cancel your current service before porting is complete.

Porting Process

  1. Go to Phone Numbers"Port Number".
  2. Enter the phone number you want to port.
  3. Upload the required documents (LOA, invoice).
  4. BHOMY submits the port request to your current carrier.
  5. Wait for approval and completion.
  6. Once complete, the number is active on BHOMY.

Timeline

Porting typically takes 1-3 weeks depending on your current carrier and country. Some carriers process faster than others. You'll receive email updates throughout the process.

During Porting

There is no downtime during porting. We set up temporary call forwarding so calls reach your AI agent while the port is being processed.

⚠️ Warning

Do not cancel your current phone service until the porting process is fully complete. Canceling early may cause the number to be lost permanently.
