Build your first AI voice agent in under 10 minutes: create an account, configure the agent, connect a number, and run a test call.
Get your first AI voice agent up and running in under 10 minutes. This guide walks you through the essential steps from account creation to your first test call.
Prerequisites
- A BHOMY account — sign up here if you haven't already.
- You're logged into the BHOMY Dashboard.
Step 1: Create Your Agent
Navigate to the Agents page in your dashboard and click "Create New Agent". Give your agent a name that helps you identify it internally — for example, "Front Desk Agent" or "Sales Qualifier".
Step 2: Choose a Template
Select a use case template to get started quickly:
- Customer Support — Pre-configured for answering questions and resolving issues.
- Appointment Booking — Set up to check calendar availability and book appointments.
- Sales Qualification — Designed to ask qualifying questions and score leads.
- Custom — Start with a blank slate and configure everything yourself.
Step 3: Write Agent Instructions
This is the most important step. Agent instructions tell your AI how to behave, what to say, and what to do. Here's an example:
You are a friendly customer support agent for Acme Corp.
Your job is to answer questions about our products and services.
Always be polite and professional.
If you cannot answer a question, politely offer to transfer
the caller to a human agent.
Never make up information — only use the knowledge base provided.Start with short, focused instructions. You can always refine them later based on call transcripts.
Step 4: Select a Voice
Browse the voice library and pick a voice that matches your brand. You can filter by language, gender, and accent. Click the play button to preview each voice before selecting it.
Step 5: Add Knowledge
Give your agent the information it needs to answer questions accurately:
- Upload a PDF — Company brochures, product manuals, or FAQ documents.
- Add a website URL — BHOMY will crawl the page and extract relevant content.
- Add Q&A pairs — Manually enter common questions and their answers.
Step 6: Connect a Phone Number
Go to Phone Numbers → "Get New Number". Select your country and number type (local, toll-free, or mobile). The number is provisioned instantly and assigned to your agent.
Step 7: Test Your Agent
Click "Test Call" in your agent's dashboard. BHOMY will call your personal phone so you can have a real conversation with your agent. Listen to how it handles questions, check if the tone is right, and note anything you'd like to improve.
Test calls are free and don't count against your minute balance.
Step 8: Go Live
Once you're satisfied with your agent's performance, toggle the "Active" switch on. Your agent is now live and will answer every incoming call to its assigned phone number.
